Marilyn
This portrait of Norma Jeane Morteson, alias Marilyn Monroe, was inspired by a photo taken by Cecil Beaton. The meaning of this painting was to capture the gaze of Marilyn. Doesn’t mean that the expressions are visible in a realistic portrait. The target for this work was precisely capture the expression, and perhaps even his thoughts. Cecil Beaton was one of the few photographers who managed to portray Marlyn with a peaceful look, not posing, but being herself. We have in mind the photos of the actress posing with that sensual look, an eyebrow slightly raised, eyes half-closed. But is this Merilyn? In the photos of Beaton, we can see behind the mask of Marilyn Monroe. Beaton reveals Norma Jeane Morteson. Without defining the silhouettes of the actress as it spread through the air like in the Klimt's painting "Danae", where the Greek god turns into a cloud of gold. Marilyn has become a sort of god? Perhaps better, a hero. A hero of our time, who managed to be Norma Jeane Morteson still, in a world where everybody thought of her as Marilyn.

"No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. Alittle girls should be told they're pretty, even if they aren't"
